Another new voucher based payment system
Posted on: 11/02/2009
Following shortly on the heels of UK company Smart Voucher’s launch of their Ukash product in SA, Standard Bank has now also launched a voucher based e-commerce payment system called MiMoney.
Electronic 18-digit vouchers can be purchased by internet shoppers at participating sales agents or by making a third party payment into Standard Bank’s MiMoney bank account, whereupon the voucher code will be sms’ed to the user. This voucher can then be used to shop online at any e-commerce enabled website offering this payment option.
Merchants with Standard Bank merchant accounts can now offer MiMoney as an additional payment option at their e-commerce web shops.

Hi Amelia,
As far as I am aware, MiMoney does not require you to have a Standard Bank account, however, you get your money a lot sooner (I think overnight – check with John) if your account is at Standard Bank.
There are already a few MiMoney merchants that do not have a Standard Bank account.

Any merchant can accept MIMONEY. They don’t need to be existing Standard Bank customers.
