Review sites and online reputation management
Posted by: Amelia Mulder on: 23/02/2009
Click.co.za is a directory and review site of e-shops that are located in South Africa, or that ship to South Africa.
You can have your online shop listed in the directory for free, where it will be rated and reviewed by both Click.co.za as well as past users of your online shop.
The site is not a shopping comparison search engine (think Jump Shopping or Pricecheck), and the listings are therefore not based on individual products and are not compared to items from any other shops. You will also not have to pay for any sales leads directed to your website (although they do offer an enhanced listing service for a fee).
The idea behind the site appears to be to create a viral platform for online shoppers to share their shopping experiences at various online shops with other internet shoppers.
Sites are rated according to their visual appeal, ease of use, product selection and service. Users can also leave reviews or comments about your e-shop.
If you have your e-commerce website listed on Click.co.za, it is advisable to return to the site regularly to see what has been written about you, as part of your online reputation management strategy.
While it is very favourable for your site’s search engine ranking to have many good quality links on the web pointing to your website, these (the links) will probably not be converted into sales if the comments about your site are mostly negative.
You should not let fear of damage to your reputation keep you from listing your website on review sites, however. You do not always get the opportunity to find out what users think of, and are saying about your brand. When it is done online, on a platform you know and have access to, it makes it much easier to track and respond to criticisms and to use the comments to improve on areas of your business that might be lacking.
And best of all – you can list your site for free on a platform where regular online shoppers go to comment on and find other recommended places on the web to do their online shopping.
